Community Partnership Programme to Tackle Food Poverty & Support the Elderly (UK)
Community groups and other not for profit organisations within a two mile radius of a One Stop shop can now apply for grants of up to £1,000 through the One Stop Community Partnership programme.
Grants of up to £1,000 Available to Community Cooking Projects (London)
Community-based projects focused on food and cooking can apply for grants of up to £1,000 through the Elizabeth Fund, established in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. These grants support projects with a short-term positive impact, particularly start-ups that might not typically receive backing from the Cooks Charity. Eligible applicants must be connected to the City of London or its neighbouring City fringe boroughs. The fund is intended for one-off projects, not ongoing expenses, and may cover personal cooking equipment for chefs in exceptional cases. Exclusions include food banks, routine charity expenses, and kitchen refurbishments. There is no closing date and applications can be submitted at any time.
Grants to Support Work that Improves Living Standards and Financial Fairness (UK)
Grants of up to £200,000 are available to charities, voluntary organisations, think tanks, campaigning groups, research bodies, and universities for strategic work to enhance the living standards and personal finances of people on low-to-middle incomes. The funding is offered through the Aberdeen Financial Fairness Trust's grant programme, which seeks proposals focused on policy, research, and advocacy in income, spending, and assets, including wages, pensions, taxation, gambling, borrowing and repayment problems, and savings. The programme awards between 15 and 20 grants annually, prioritising initiatives for younger generations. In addition, the Trust has launched a new cross-cutting funding theme "Climate Change and Household Finances in the UK" to support the policy, research and campaigning work of organisations to protect and improve the household finances of people on low-to-middle incomes in the UK during the transition to Net Zero and adjustment to climate change. The deadline for applications is 1pm on the 5th February 2025.
Cost of Living Fund: Merton Food Distribution Hub Grant 2025-27
Merton Council is inviting bids to run Merton’s new Surplus Food Distribution Hub, funded by our Cost of Living Emergency fund. The hub will source, coordinate, and distribute surplus food to local food aid organisations, ensuring access to safe, nutritious supplies.
Grant Details:
- Up to £110,000 over two years (March/April 2025 start).
- Open to Merton-based organisations (or partnerships) ready to scale operations.
Key Deliverables:
- Efficient food collection and distribution across the borough.
- Supplying food pantries and building relationships with local growers and suppliers.
- Recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Exploring funding opportunities to ensure long-term sustainability.

Funding to Tackle Hunger Amongst Young People (UK)
Schools and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £1,500 for projects and activities that help children across the UK have a stronger start in life. Priority is given to initiatives that provide food and support to young people. These grants assist schools and organisations in offering nutritious food, healthy activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing—such as breakfast clubs or snacks—and equipment for healthy pursuits. Every three months, three local good causes or projects are selected for the blue token customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK, with grants awarded based on the number of votes each project receives. The funding is being made available through the Tesco Stronger Starts Programme, which is managed by Groundwork across the UK and is working with greenspace scotland to support applicants in Scotland. Applications can be made at any time.
Grants to Help People Clear Domestic Gas & Electricity Debts (England, Scotland & Wales)
Individuals and families with domestic gas or energy debts ranging from £50 to £1,700 on credit or pre-payment meter accounts can apply for support through the Individual and Families grants programme. Administered by the British Gas Energy Trust, this programme provides grants to British Gas and non-British Gas customers with pre-payment or credit accounts to clear outstanding arrears with their energy supplier. Any British Gas and non-British Gas customer in England, Wales and Scotland who has sought money or debt advice and not received a grant from the Trust in the past 2 years is eligible to apply for the support. However, customers of Eon, Eon Next, EDF, Scottish Power, and Octopus should apply to their respective funds. The Fund will close when all funding has been awarded.
