National Lottery Heritage Fund grants

The National Lottery Heritage Grants programme funds projects that value, care for and sustain heritage for everyone across the UK, now and in the future.  From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more heritage can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass on to future generations. 

National Lottery Heritage Grants programme offers funding at two levels:

  • £10,000 to £250,000 – applications are accepted all year round
  • £250,000 to £10million - these grants have quarterly deadlines; applicants must submit an Expression of Interest before starting a full funding application

National Lottery Grants for Heritage - Grants of up to £10 Million Available (UK)
Not-for-profit organisations across the UK can now apply for grants of between £250,000 and £10 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for projects connecting people and communities to UK heritage. The funding can support a broad range of activities and project costs such as volunteer expenses, capital works, repairs, maintenance, conservation costs, professional fees, event costs, and the acquisition of heritage. All projects must also consider long-term environmental sustainability. Partnerships are encouraged. Up to 10% match funding is required. The next closing date for expressions of interest for National Lottery Grants for Heritage is 12 pm on the 26th February 2025.

Grants to Promote Latin and Roman Studies and Activities (UK)
Grants of up to £600 are available to schools to help promote Latin and Roman studies. Most of the grants are awarded for purchasing textbooks and other books on Roman topics. Grants are also awarded to groups and schools and museums organising lectures or study days on Roman themes, and money has recently been made available for archaeology fieldwork bursaries. The Society awards the grants for the Promotion of Roman Studies and the next closing date for applications is the 1st February 2025.
