South London Half Marathon - Champion Merton!

An opportunity to bring energy, civic pride and local spirit to Merton. Kate from Merton Giving is inviting local groups and partners to help shape how Merton gets involved...

The inaugural Run South London Half Marathon will take place in Merton in March 2027. Delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Merton and The Great Run Company (organisers of events including the Great North Run) it is a chance for local charities, businesses community groups and residents to get involved.

Community groups and charities are invited to an online information session to find out how the event could support their fundraising and community activity.

-How charities can purchase places for the event
-What happens after places are purchased through The Great Run Company
-How JustGiving can support fundraising
-Fundraising tips from JustGiving
-Suggested fundraising targets for smaller charities

-Training support available to participants

Make the South London Half Marathon a Merton celebration!
The South London Half Marathon is an opportunity to bring energy, civic pride and local spirit to Merton. Following discussion at July’s Involve Network meeting, Kate Aldous from Merton Giving is inviting local organisations, schools, community groups and partners to help shape how Merton gets involved.

Together, we will explore opportunities beyond the Council-led event planning, including:
-Cheer stations that bring the route to life
- A welcoming community village at the finish
-Volunteer roles on the day
-Local performers, activities and entertainment
-New ideas that showcase Merton’s communities
