Holocaust Memorial Day 2026

The Holocaust reminds us that hatred grows when it goes unchallenged
It was a moving evening of reflection, with prose, poetry and song, remembering the horrors of the Holocaust and other genocides. The evening also created space to reflect on acts of courage and kindness, and to recognise the resilience of the human spirit.
The Holocaust reminds us that hatred grows when it goes unchallenged. In Merton, work continues year round to challenge hate and support communities affected by it.
If you have experienced hate crime, or know someone who has, support is available if you wish to report it. You can contact the police by calling your local police station. In an emergency, call 999. Hate crime can also be reported online here.
Merton Council also runs Hate Crime Advice Surgeries, offering impartial support and guidance. These sessions provide a safe and confidential space to talk about hate crime and explore reporting options, including anonymous reporting. No appointment is needed and the service is free.
